Like many Europeans, we’re looking at political events surrounding peace conversations for Ukraine with some concern, to say the least. We knew that the newly elected American president Trump would be a disruptor on the world stage but perhaps didn’t expect it to impact us so directly.
UK news bulletins and newspaper headlines speak of Europe’s security being threatened and some commentators are trying to work out how come Trump is walking in such apparent deception.
For those of us who are followers of The Way, we might and should not be finding security in political changes anyway. Our own stability is founded on the Lord’s steadfast love and secure promises.
Nonetheless, this is no time to stick our heads in the sand. As children of the living God, we are called to be world-changers far more than any politician. The way we do this?
Pray, my friends. For kings (and Presidents) and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our saviour, who desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. 1Tim 2:2
