Launch of The Blessings Course (New Edition)
Would you like to be part of an astonishing and wonderful movement this autumn?
We are planning to launch the new edition of The Blessings Course at the end of September.
Recalling the launch of the first edition around 3 years ago, we remember the unexpected chaos that ensued as we immediately received hundreds of orders from around the world at the same time. Volunteers helped to sort and pack the orders. Every available surface – including the floor – was piled high with jiffy bags waiting to be posted. We ran out of stock again and again. This time we plan to do much better. Time will tell…
If you go to www.roygodwin.org and subscribe, you will be amongst the first to receive all the information about the course and be given the opportunity to purchase it before the public rush. Why not pause and subscribe right now?
This month’s word from Roy
Roy and Daphne are currently away, celebrating 50 years of marriage.
September. What comes to mind for this month? Darker evening? Evening classes? Kids back to school? Cooler temperatures? Well, as I write these words we are having something of a sudden short heatwave, and very welcome it is too. Still, the evenings certainly are drawing in. Autumn is on the way. It’s definite and utterly predictable. Not the exact date, but the seasons are set. Then winter, to be followed by the glory of Spring. There is no confusion about which season comes next. Summer has never followed Autumn. The laws of nature are set.
God too is set. He is set on loving you faithfully and blessing you. This is who he is. He loves you with an everlasting love which will never fade away. He is steadfast, even when we are not. I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39.
Daphne and I are currently away as part of our Golden Wedding celebrations. It was 50 years ago that we both said those famous words: ‘I will’. On our actual anniversary we gathered with our family: our son and daughter and their spouses, plus grandchildren, visible fruit of our marriage, for a wonderful BBQ. We celebrated together. It was a privilege to recount how I went to Daphne’s hometown all those years ago as the student leader of a mission and met her there as she helped. So, we met because of the call of Jesus on our respective lives. For me it was love at first sight. Daphne was rather slower! Twelve months later we were married. During the ensuing years we have experienced all the ups and downs of life and marriage. We have known wonderful times of overwhelming fruitfulness. We have also experienced the fallout of poor or wrong decision. The pain of circumstances. We have been battered by life and uplifted by the Lord. We are still together because of His keeping power. Our sustained marriage is a testimony to God’s faithfulness.
It was with joy and confidence that we were able to remind our children as we told our grandchildren that the only way to lead the best and most effective and meaningful life, is to trust and follow Jesus and love people. To invest their lives in serving the purposes of God in their generation.
As for us, we look to the future with joy and certainty. We don’t know what’s around the corner, any more than anyone else does. But we do know that God is there, loving us, keeping us, blessing us. He is faithful. He who began a good work within us will see it through to completion.
Here are two words that bless us; we pray that they will bless you too.
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning.”
Lamentations 3:22
“The steadfast love of the Lord lasts ALL THE DAY.”
Psalms 52:1 Emphasis mine
A Blessing
I bless you in the name of Jesus and write his name over your life. As the evenings shorten and the temperatures cool away, as autumn beckons, I bless you in Jesus name that the warmth of the Father’s smile might rest upon you, warming you, comforting you, strengthening you. I bless you in the name of Jesus that this coming Autumn and Winter may be as springtime in your spirit; that the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, the lifegiving Spirit, may draw you ever deeper into the Father’s embrace. That you might know true rest; that the wisdom from on high might be granted to you. I bless you in Jesus’s name that he might shout ‘yes’ over your deepest longings; that all your plans might succeed.
Yes and Amen.
