Dear Friends

Welcome to September 2023’s Word for the Month, and a special welcome to anyone joining us for the first time. May God bless you richly as you read on.  At the end there is a prayer, and a blessing on video.

As the storms blow through, the evenings darken, and the thermometer goes into decline, it’s easy to sink into the autumn and let weariness rest on our shoulders. We are all so busy, and life seems to get faster and faster. We have our responsibilities and concerns. Inflation/cost of living is a burden for many.

Worshipping helps. Being part of the local church is important, but even that can put more pressure on us.

So let’s look in the cupboard for medicine to cheer us.

The promise in the Old Testament is that they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:3.

Or how about Isaiah 30:15: “In quietness and in trust shall be your strength”.

In the New Testament, we have the words of the risen Lord Jesus.

Are you feeling stressed or anxious? He says, “Do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ Or ‘what shall we wear’? Do not be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:31, 34.

And Jesus’ invitation for you and me, beautifully put from the Message translation: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me, and you’ll recover your life. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly”. Matthew 11:28ff

News

GodTV broadcast an interview with me last Friday. You are invited to watch it online by clicking on the picture to the left.

Please let me know if you found it encouraging.

And remember, even the sea is too small to represent the Father’s love for you. Only the Cross is sufficient.

PRAYER

Thank you for your everlasting arms that are ever around me. You will never let me sink beneath the waves. I cast all my cares upon you, and ask you, Lord Jesus, to put your promised easy yoke on my shoulders and deep rest in my spirit, soul, and body, whatever my circumstances.

In Jesus name.  Amen.
